HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. In 1960 Ted Nelson introduced Hypertext. It is a database of documents which are linked together. Around 1990, Tim Berners Lee an English Scientist at European laboratory for particle physics,created World Wide Web and gave the term URL to represent a World Wide Web.
